One Man's EWWW Is....

Another man's YUM!

I was just reading JenLa and she had a link to this. It got me thinking of disgusting food combo's and what I like.

The worst food combo I've ever heard occurred at the grocery store:

Lady in Line in Front of Me Buying Peanut Butter and Bananas: I love mixing peanut butter and bananas.

Cashier: Me too. It's also good with apples.

Me: Remember Ants on a Log? Peanut butter on celery with raisins on top.

general murmuring of other peanut butter combo's

Cashier: When my daughter was in high school, she went through this phase where she loved to make tuna salad sandwiches. Instead of mixing in mayo, she'd use peanut butter.

Silence...

Lady in Front of Me Saying What I Was Thinking: Was she pregnant?

Cashier: NO! (laughing)

Me: High? (to myself)

That is so gross, I can't even think about it without gagging.

Gross things (according to those around me) I love:

1. Dipping my chicken tenders/nuggets/fried weird shapes into mustard instead of ketchup.
2. Putting a slice of cheese on my tuna or BBQ pork sandwich.
3. Dipping my fries in my Frosty at Wendy's (salt and sweet can't be beat!).

Looking at that small list, no wonder I'm overweight!

My husband dips potato chips in ketchup. Ew.

What's your favorite weird food combo?

Off to Wendy's, Ruth!

Peanut butter and turkey (the fake, lunchmeat kind) on wheat toast.

I like cheese on tuna, too!

Re: potato chips and catsup. I have only known one other person who liked that. Her husband died while still in his twenties, and a few years later she was murdered. I'm sure there is a connection in there somewhere ;-)

A friend in college used to eat peanut butter and bacon sandwiches. She was super thin and sometimes her body just wanted all that fat!

None of your combos sound weird to me and I am SO going to try the frosty/fry combo.

As you may know, I am the opposite of the "separate your food on the plate" girl. You may remember the mashed banana, oatmeal, honey, peanut butter combo.

Another one that gets the school lunch ladies every time is "institutional yogurt" mixed with cottage cheesse. (that started in college)

In South Africa, dessert was regularly fruit cocktail mixed with pudding. Another combo that those in the know (school lunch ladies) find repulsive

I used to love peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches (no, not when I was pregnant). Also fried baloney sandwiches. My mother used to make both these for me.

btw - there's absolutely nothing gross about any of the things you listed that you like :-)

I used to crave dill pickles and french dressing. I dunno why but that ended quickly.
And I can practically chug vinegar. Most days when I make a salad i make it with vinegar and salt.

and ditto on that salty sweet business. Chocolate covered pretzels.

My husband tells me tales of the time he put a Entenmann's chocolate doughnut on top of plain ham and american cheese sandwich (he just reminded me: a plain sandwich is key, otherwise, it would be disgusting, lol)

I'm sorry, I'm so traumatized by the PB&tuna that I can't think of anything. UGH.

My MIL makes red chile enchiladas that are soooo hot they burn your lips right off, I discovered that if I put honey on them I can get them down, the hot/sweet thing. Oh, in northern NM, we always put a fried egg on top of our enchiladas.

When I used to work @ McDonald's, I used to love to dip my french fries in my ice cream. I thought that was the best combo. My ex hubby liked going to Wendy's and mixing chicken nuggets, fries and their chili all together. He would shop straight fro their $1 menu and make a meal for $3-$4. I thought it was gross, but he loved it.

My dad introduced me to peanut butter and mayonaise sandwiches. As a kid I thought that was the worst combination ever. Now, when I need a little comforting, 'daddy's little girl turns to the PB & M.
